Explorers to Assist at Scout Capades

Every year Boy Scouts of America holds a large scouting event called Scout Capades in the Gresham area. The Gresham Fire Explorers regularly support this event with a demonstration of fire equipment, talks on fire safety and information about the Explorer program. This year's event was April 12th at the Multnomah Kennel Club in Fairview.

Explorers Assist with Public Education

Members of the Post supported the career staff several times this past summer with public education projects. This event was at the Home Depot and featured the crew of Truck 71 dismantling a car.

During the event Explorers handed out safety information, gave tours of fire engines, answered questions, sold T-shirts to raise funds for the department's honor guard and generally supported the department.

Downtown Looks Better, Thanks to Explorers

Last Summer the post cleaned up the look of Downtown Gresham by painting hydrants in bright and varied colors under the direction of Fire Chief Riley Caton and his wife to support the Downtown Gresham Development Commission. Downtown merchants have made many positive comments about the success of the project.
